George W. Custar of Florence Township, three miles northeast from Edon, was born October 12, 1859, in Superior Township. He is a son of John and Lydia (Tumbleson) Custer. On July 4, 1883, Mr. Custar married Lillie McCamis, a daughter of John and Louisa (Hare) McCamis. Mr. and Mrs. Custar have two children.

David J. Mettler was born at Union Corners, then known as the Adair Farms, on September 9, 1862, son of William and Miriam (Adair) Mettler. On January 1, 1885, Mr. Mettler married Miss Wilda Moss, a native of Allen County, Indiana, where she lived to the age of twelve when her parents removed to Columbia, Ohio.
